Abstract
The different concentration of ammonium nitrate, sucrose and spermidine enriched f/2 media was applied for growth and development of thallus of seaweeds. Amongst different concentration of nutrient enriched media, spermidine (100µM) enriched f/2 medium influences the maximum number of vegetative branches and a callus (disorganized cell mass that arose from the organized tissue of the explant), Although regeneration was observed in sucrose and ammonium nitrate supplemented enriched media but the speed of regeneration and growth was found to be slow compared to spermidine. The simultaneous formation of filamentous outgrowth was observed at the cut ends of explants. These filamentous outgrowths later developed several vegetative branches cultured in different concentration nutrient enriched media. The explants taken from the basal portion of the thallus regenerated maximum number of vegetative branches compared to the apical portion. The pattern of the growth of vegetative branches was found to be uniaxial and lactotype growth. A complete plantlets along with several branches was grown successfully in spermdine supplemented enriched f/2 medium after 1 months of culture. The color of plantlets was bushy and quite similar to that of field material in appearance. Key words: Polyamines (PAs), Spermidine (spd), f/2, Enriched seawater (FSW), sucrose, ammonium nitrate, cystocarp.
Abstract
Earthworm plays a major role in the proper functioning of the soil ecosystem. It acts as Scavenger and helps in recycling of dead and decayed plant material by feeding on them. Earthworm increases the soil fertility and is often referred to as a farmer’s friend. Earthworms have been used in medicine for various remedies. In the present study, vermicompost and vermiwash was prepared from Eudrilus eugeniae and tested against five bacterial strains and two fungal strains. Vermicompost and Vermiwash were able to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria.
Keywords: Eudrilus eugeniae, vermicompost, vermiwash and antimicrobial activity.
Abstract:
This research is intended to find out the morphological as well as the seed storage protein band pattern of Alysicarpus Neck. ex. Desv. Found spread in four different sites of Patna. The sample collecting is done using extensive survey in the various region of Patna District, while the analysis of protein band pattern is done using SDS-PAGE. The result of the research of morphology is analyzed descriptively and presented in the form of tables. The analysis of seed protein band is done using quantitative and qualitative analysis that is based on band patterns, percentage similarity and dissimilarity index (DSI) and Rf values of bands. A total 32 bands were observed and out of 3 bands in identical pattern. The results of protein diversity study shows that Alysicarpus monilifer and Alysicarpus vaginalis formed close similarity clump, while Alysicarpus bupleurifolius and Alysicarpus rugosus var heyneanus form the other clade. The present morphological and biochemical study was thus helpful in establishing the distinct identity of the four species. Keywords: Seed, Morphological diversity, Alysicarpus, SDS-PAGE
